Maggie is an 8 year old Spanish Waterdog. Waterdogs are much more solid than their initial appearance would suggest. They are very dense and packed full of muscle. Maggie is also fiercely intelligent and has been on several “search and recover” training course to keep her mind occupied, otherwise she gets bored and gets up to mischief!
She is quite a challenge to photograph – her owner, keen and loving but slightly misguided, took hundreds of photographs of her whilst she was a puppy, using a little point and shoot camera with the flash engaged. So Maggie learnt early on that having your photograph taken means getting blinded. Being a smart dog, as soon as she now sees anything that looks like a camera being lifted to a person’s face, she keeps a healthy 20 yard difference, usually also turning her back, and no amount of coaxing or treats will get her close until you put the camera down.
So this session required a stealth approach and some long lenses. We didn’t get much time for our walk, sadly, so we just got a few shots.
